June 13th: Verlander v. Morton

Cleveland:  2-5-1
Joplin: 10-11-1

W: Charlie Morton 4-2
L: Justin Verlander 4-9

HR: Peralta

Justin Verlander returned to the Mine in a new uniform to face Charlie Morton and other old teammates.  Memories of the 2018 world series were quickly erased from his mind as the Miners touched up Verlander for 3 runs in 7 innings.  While Verlander was tagged with his 9th loss on the season, Morton improved his record to 4-2.

Freddie Freeman led off the scoring in the Joplin 3rd with a 2 run double.  David Peralta added a RBI single to give the Miners an early 3-0 lead.  The Rocks cut the lead to 3-2 in the 6th on a RBI double by Trey Story and Alex Gordon's SF.  Joplin punished the Rock bullpen, exploding for 7 runs in the 8th for a 10-2 win.

June 14th: Dan Duffy vs. Miles Mikolas

Cleveland:  0-2-0
Joplin:  1-4-0

W: Kazu Makita  1-1
L:  Miles Mikolas  6-7
S:  Craig Kimbrel- 13

Freddie Freeman hit a RBI single in the 3rd as 6 Miner pitchers combined for a 2 hit shutout and extend theirseries lead to 2-0.
Manager Billy Martin pulled LH starter Danny Duggy early in the game given the Rocks loaded their lineup with RH hitters.  The move paid off and Craig Kimbrel picked up his 13th save.

June 15th: Marco Estrada v. Reynoldo Lopez

Joplin: 3-7-2
Cleveland: 7-8-1

W: Reynoldo Lopez 5-5
L:  Marco Estrada  1-4

HRs: Trevor Story, Freddie Freeman

The last two games of the series took place at the Quarry. The Rocks took an early lead in Game 3 on a first inning home run by Trevor Story.  Miner Greg Garcia slashed an RBI double in the second for a 1-1 tie but Cleveland opened up the game with 2 runs in the 5th thanks to Erik Gonzlez's RBI double and Matt Duffy's run scoring single.   Joplin's Freddie Freeman hit a RBI double in the 6th and homered in the 9th but the Rocks knocked the Miner bullpen around for 4 more runs and a 7-3 win.

June 16th: Jamie Garcia v. Ty BlachJoplin:  4-13-0
Cleveland: 5-8-0

W: Ken Giles
L: Craig Kimbrel

HR: Voigt

This is the type of game which may cost a team a divisional championship or even a wildcard spot in the playoffs.  The Miners jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first on RBI hits by Freeman, Peralta and Inciarte. The Rocks cut the lead in half when Matt Duffy scored on a wild pitch in the 2nd then tied the game up on RBI doubles by Duffy and Kendrick in the 6th.  Duffy knocked in the winning run in the 7th.  If the Miners want to make the playoffs then they need to win these games.
