MINERS TAKE 3 OUT OF 4 FROM JAMBOREE

Mookie Betts (316/480/632) uses Bat and Glove to lead Miners to 3 wins

The Miners played a home and away series against the Bear Country Jamboree and were fortunate enough to take 3 out of 4 from BCJ in the series.

Game 1: Chris Sale (Jop) v. Luis Castillo ( BCJ)

Joplin 5.11.2
BCJ    6.11.2

This game was a 22 inning marathon and was the most frustrating game I have ever managed in my BDBL career.  Chris Sale came out and had another great outing ( 7.2.2.2.3.12) but the Miners blew a 5-2 lead in the 9th when Craig Kimbrel not only made a two base error but gave up a 9th inning 3 run bomb to Daniel Palka.  The icing on the cake came in the 22nd inning when Tanaka walked in the winning run with the bases loaded.  The fact Sale has yet to win a game in Chapter 1 is troubling.

Game 2: Charlie Morton ( Jop) v. Jose Urena ( BCJ)

Joplin: 13.13.0
BCJ:    1.5.1

The Miners took out their frustration in game 2 thanks in part to the fact that Jose Urena left the game after 2 innings with a minor arm injury.
Carlos Santana and Mookie Betts  each hit a homer to lead the 13 hit parade.  Charlie Morton ( 4.5.1.1.2.5) only lasted 4 innings before the bullpen duo of T.J Mc Farland and Chris Devenski shutdown BCJ the rest of the way.

Game 3: Jamie Garcia ( Joplin) v.  Ryan Borucki ( BCJ)

BCJ: 1.4.4
Joplin: 11.17.0

The Joplin hit parade continued as the Miners demolished BCJ 11-1.  Jose Iglesias and Mookie Betts both hit towering shots for the win.  Jessie Chavez picked up a win in relief and now stands at 5-1 on the season.

Game 4:  Danny Duffy ( Joplin) v.  Carlos Rondon ( BCJ)

BCJ: 1.6.0
Joplin: 2.7.2

Duffy and Rondon are two of baseball's best lefties with the most potential to become stud starters.  Turning potential into consistent performance is the key to solving these two player's future.  Both pitchers went about 6 innings and only gave up 1 run.  The Miners squeezed out a run in the bottom of the 8th when Inciarte singled, stole second and scored on Forsythe's RBI single.  Craig Kimbrel came in and picked up his 6th save on the season.

The Miners are currently 14-10 on the season and play a 4 game series against the North Carolina Spider Pigs this weekend.
