                      Charlie Morton fans 12 for 7-0 win over the Blue Wave

Joplin won 3 out of 4 to win another series.

WP:  Chris Sale ( 7.4.1.1.2.8)
LP:  Matt Harvey ( 4.1-8.5.5.1.2)

David Peralta homered and the Miners scored 4 runs in the 5th to seal the win. 
Chris Sale continued to earn his pay with 8Ks in 7 IPs.

G2: Joplin 7, Darien 0
WP: Charlie Morton ( 6.2-3-0-0-2-10)
LP: W.Miley  ( 0.1.1.1.0.0.0) 

 Mookie Betts hit a 3 run homer and Ender Inciarte tripled twice to back up the 3 hit pitching of Charlie Morton. 

G3: Darien 5, Joplin 0
WP: Felix Hernandez ( 7-4-0-0-1-5)
LP: Mashi Tanaka  ( 5.2-6-3-3-4-10)

Jose Bautista hit 2 bombs and knocked in 4 runs while Felix Hernandez shutdown the Miners offensive attack.   Mashi Tanaka struck out 10.

G4:  Joplin 5, Darien 3
ND: Danny Duffy ( 3.2-5-3-3-2-3)  WP Fern Salas
LP: Jordan Zimmerman ( 4.1-5-4-4-3-6)

Chad Pinder hit a 3 run shot and Carlos Santana and Franchy Cordero launched another solo shot for the win.   Danny Duffy continues to disappoint but the bullpen bailed him out to secure the win.

2020CH1: MINERS GO 8-20/ FANS FEAR LONG SEASON

Neil Walker Chapter 1 MVP (351/393/544)  The Joplin Miners went 10-18 in Chapter 1.  Here are the series results:  Salem 0-4 Darien: 3-1 NCISP:3-1 Los Altos: 1-3 Ravenwood: 1-3 Kansas City: 2-2 Las Vegas: 0-4 Joplin fans were frustrated by the 1-5 record in 1 run games. There were a number of red flags in Chapter 1.  The pitching staff went 10-18 with a 5.35 ERA. Chris Sale, the ace of the staff, went 1-3 with a 6.14 ERA.  True, he did strike out 43 batters and only walked 7 in 19 innings but the ERA indicates opposing teams had no trouble scoring runs. Danny Duffy (2-2-4.85) and Tanner Roark ( 2-1-3.38) provided some respectable starts but the bullpen was simply nonexistent and the lack of cash to acquire additional pitching showed up in the bottom of the rotation.
